This French luxury house owns several companies: Christian Dior SA (holding company operating LVMH and representing the score of the Arnault family), Christian Dior Couture (subsidiary of Christian Dior SA), as well as Dior Joaillerie, Dior Montres or Parfums, Christian Dior (subsidiaries of LVMH).
Today I’m going to tell you more about the Saddle Bag. It was created by John Gallianoin in 1999. This timeless saddle-shaped bag is one of the first “it-bags” of the 2000s, a golden age for Dior. This bag was made very popular by Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie Bradshaw) in season 3 of Sex and the City but also by Beyonce, Kate Moss or Paris Hilton.
The Saddle bag is seen in the arms of all influential women of the 2000s, whether real or fictional.
On the vintage market, which has been booming for a few years, the Saddle Bag is very popular and is now available in store in new versions of Maria Grazia Chiuri. As we already know, fashion is an eternal circle so it is not surprising that this timeless bag that matches all types of outfits is back in the wardrobes of fashion lovers.
Today many brands are inspired by it, such as the brand Gina Tricot with the “Sadie bag”. But the graphic, sophisticated and chic shape of the authentic Dior Saddle Bag is beyond recognisable among all and makes it a unique bag.
Since the British influencer Adwoa Aboah posted it on social medias in 2017, fashion lovers want it desperately, on social networks we see it everywhere, it is the “must-have”. The lucky ones can buy the model made in a monogram canvas with the “D” print in thrift stores, on Ebay or on online sales sites such as Vinted or Venteprivée but it is getting sold like hotcakes. Before this craze, you could buy a Saddle for less than 200 euros and today the prices range from 600 to more than 2,000 euros. Some will kick themselves!
